Yeongdeungpo District Community Centers to Resume Operations on 17th After COVID-19 Closure
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Yeongdeungpo District has decided to resume operations of community center programs at various neighborhoods that were temporarily suspended to prevent the spread of COVID-19, beginning on the 17th.
The district temporarily halted community center program operations across all neighborhoods on the 3rd in response to prevent the domestic spread of COVID-19 following its outbreak in China in December of last year.
After monitoring infection trends and death tolls over the following two weeks, the district found that civic awareness had increased with thorough personal hygiene management, and decided to resume programs for local economic revitalization.
Classes suspended during the closure period will be made up. However, in cases where there are constraints on facilities and scheduling, each neighborhood will autonomously determine whether to offer refunds or extend the class period.
Song Young-wan, head of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "I wish to express my gratitude to district residents who actively participated in the emergency temporary closure decided to prevent the spread of COVID-19," and added, "Going forward, we will make active efforts to normalize community center program operations."
