[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Kwon Seon-gu Chief Gil Young-bae conducted an on-site inspection of the Seryudae Bridge located in Seryudong, Kwon Seon-gu, on the 17th with city officials and service contractors to check the progress of repair and reinforcement work.

The on-site inspection was conducted as the Seryudae Bridge received a safety rating of 'D' grade from a detailed safety diagnosis, to directly examine the progress at the site and discuss measures to secure additional project funding.

During a regular inspection in September 2018, defects such as a step in the expansion joint were discovered at the Seryudae Bridge. The district immediately conducted a detailed safety diagnosis service (December 19, 2018 – March 11, 2019), and the relevant department secured design costs of 200 million won from the first supplementary budget last year for repairs and reinforcement. The district then made an all-out effort to secure 3.8 billion won needed for the construction.

As a result, 1.3 billion won was obtained from the city's disaster management fund in December last year, making it possible to start construction from the priority reinforcement stages. The district plans to first repair the bridge piers that are not functioning properly.

Considering that delayed repairs and reinforcement could lead to road closures, the district plans to make an all-out effort to supplement the insufficient project budget through national treasury funds and the first supplementary budget this year.

Chief Gil Young-bae said, "We will make multi-faceted efforts to ensure that the Seryudae Bridge repair and reinforcement work is carried out in a way that minimizes residents' safety risks and inconvenience to citizens, and will continue to do our best to monitor the site."
