Pyeongtaek City Holds 2nd Major Project Report Meeting

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City held its 2nd major project report meeting on the 17th with the attendance of approximately 150 people including senior civil servants and heads of affiliated organizations.

Following the 1st meeting held on the 15th of last month, the city shared and discussed key projects including agricultural technology, water supply and sewerage, Korea-U.S. cooperative projects, disaster and audit-related affairs, and operations of affiliated organizations, as well as analysis of shortcomings from the previous year and key implementation tasks for 2020.

This year, the city plans to pursue in the agricultural technology sector ▲the construction of an agricultural product processing support center ▲and the installation of a northern branch of the agricultural machinery rental business. In the water supply and sewerage sector, the city will carry out ▲a water quality restoration and improvement project for Tongbok Stream ▲and a basic infrastructure construction project for stable supply of quality water.

In Korea-U.S. cooperation efforts, the city will expand cultural infrastructure by establishing themed streets based on the unique characteristics of the stationing of U.S. Forces Korea and promoting the Korea-U.S. Harmony Festival as a brand.

In disaster and audit affairs, the city has set priority tasks as ▲thorough disaster response and training ▲pursuing a diagnostic project on the safety level of the local community ▲providing fair civil complaint handling that satisfies citizens ▲and fostering an integrity-based and trustworthy civil service.

Additionally, the city plans to prioritize ▲full-scale promotion of the Pyeongtaek Lake tourism complex ▲and expansion of transportation services for the mobility disadvantaged.
