Paldal-gu Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Illegal Dumping Surveillance Cameras
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Paldal-gu conducted a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of garbage dumping surveillance cameras (CCTV) throughout the district over a two-week period from the 10th to the 21st.
Paldal-gu has 117 CCTVs installed in habitual illegal dumping areas, consisting of 96 fixed cameras and 21 mobile units. Among these, 11 devices requiring maintenance had their main units replaced with the latest equipment, and 2 devices were relocated to positions with enhanced enforcement effectiveness compared to their previous locations.
Additionally, the district expanded its guidance announcements from Korean-only support to three languages (Korean, English, and Chinese). This addresses the limitation of reduced effectiveness in guidance as the number of foreign residents living in the city continues to increase but announcements were only provided in Korean.
Furthermore, remote control sensors for adjusting volume and inspecting equipment were additionally installed.
Song Seong-deok, head of Paldal-gu's Living Safety Division, said, "We expect that CCTV maintenance will establish an effective video surveillance system and help prevent illegal dumping in advance," adding, "We will continue to conduct regular inspections to ensure that CCTVs do not become redundant."
