Osan City Launches 'Ttassum Mask' Project in Full Scale

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City has launched the 'Ttassum Mask' sharing project in full scale to ease the mask shortage.

The 'Ttassum Mask' sharing project is a sharing activity in which the city distributes mask production kits and citizens (talent donors) directly make cloth masks to donate and provide them to vulnerable groups and other citizens.

The city plans to distribute masks to citizens through volunteer centers starting from the 12th. Additionally, mask production kit samples have been submitted to professional testing institutions for performance testing.

As advance preparation for the project, on the 11th, 30 students from Osan Centennial Civic University Feeling Mark School prepared 15,000 'Ttassum Mask' production kits at the City Hall Water Fragrance Room by packaging outer fabric, inner lining, pattern paper, wire, and rubber bands in envelopes for distribution to citizens.

Osan Centennial Civic University Feeling Mark School is a two-year lifelong learning program that fosters citizen leaders aged 50 and above who wish to think about and solve local issues together. It has graduated 40 first-generation graduates and currently has 80 second and third-generation students participating.

Yoo Sun-seon, the second-generation president of Feeling Mark School who participated in the packaging work, stated, "I am delighted to participate in this small task that becomes a source of strength for someone, and in difficult situations, harmony, consideration, and sharing are needed. Following the purpose of Feeling Mark School to take the lead in solving regional issues in Osan, we will do our best to overcome the COVID-19 crisis together."

Mayor Kwak Sang-wook of Osan City said, "The 'Ttassum Mask' making and sharing project will provide great strength in maintaining interest and consideration for neighbors even in the COVID-19 situation. I hope many citizens will participate in creating a warm neighboring community where we encourage and support each other through small acts of sharing."
