Suwon City Wins Grand Prize in Gyeonggi Province's 2020 Non-Tax Revenue Management Comprehensive Evaluation
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 20th that it won the grand prize in the Gyeonggi Province-led '2020 Non-Tax Revenue Management Comprehensive Evaluation,' and will receive a commendation and 53 million won in financial support at an awards ceremony next month.
The evaluation was conducted by the province, which divided 31 cities and counties based on tax revenue scale into three groups last year, and evaluated 10 indicators across five categories—▲non-tax revenue collection rate ▲delinquent tax settlement rate ▲director interest level ▲discovery of new tax sources and institutional improvements ▲award achievements and dedicated organization operation—through written evaluation using evaluation forms and supporting documents.
The city actively discovered and sold idle shared assets, raising asset utilization by 34.3 billion won, and conducted a comprehensive investigation of occupants and users of state and public assets, imposing 373 million won in compensation, contributing to the discovery of new tax sources and receiving high marks.
Additionally, through institutional improvements and special measures, the city reduced postal costs by 1% by printing registration numbers and barcodes on registered mail notices for fines and surcharges.
In particular, the city efficiently managed water-related data and established an 'integrated water supply platform' to provide citizens with customized water supply information, while seamlessly managing and organizing tax data following the administrative boundary adjustment between Suwon and Yongin.
Furthermore, the city achieved annual non-tax revenue collection of 457.8 billion won, up 10% from the previous year, collected 19.4 billion won in delinquent taxes, and recorded a 67.1% delinquent tax collection rate—an increase of 1.46 percentage points from the previous year—receiving high evaluation from Gyeonggi Province.
