[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City announced on the 25th that it will reduce water and sewage rates amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The reduction is intended to ease the economic burden on citizens and small and medium-sized businesses experiencing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19, and on small business owners through water rate reductions.

On the 24th, the city announced COVID-19 support measures including 57.4 billion won in financial assistance and 6.3 billion won in reductions of various fees. The water and sewage rate reduction plan is one of them.

The targets for the reduction are water and sewage users excluding government offices, military units, and large enterprises. Without a separate application, water and sewage rates will be reduced by 50% for three months starting from the April billing cycle. The reduction is expected to reach approximately 5.1 billion won across approximately 70,000 accounts.

A city official said, "We hope that the reduction in water and sewage rates will help us overcome this difficult time caused by COVID-19 together," and added, "We will continue to do our best to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and revitalize the sluggish economy."
