Suwon City Implements Various 'Social Distancing' Promotions Including Banners, City Logo Changes, and UCC Contests
[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City is currently implementing various social distancing promotions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
First, banners reminding people of social distancing have been installed in areas expected to see crowds of spring visitors, including Gwanggyo Maru-gil, Seoho Stream, Mansuk Park, Hwangguji Stream, Jangan Park, Hwaseo Park, and Yeogisan Park.
The cancellations of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Cherry Blossom Festival and the Gwanggyo Maru-gil Cherry Blossom Festival are also being promoted.
Additionally, in conjunction with the concentrated disinfection efforts held every Wednesday, the city plans to conduct facility disinfection in parks at least twice a week and strengthen crackdowns on illegal parking and unlicensed street vendors to ensure thorough management of spring visitors. The city's image is also being transformed to match the social distancing theme.
This is to visually emphasize social distancing by spacing out the figures depicted in the current city image, which consists of images of people greeting each other.
The city philosophy logo 'People Are Welcome' is also being revised to '2 Meters Apart, People Are Still Welcome,' which will be used by the city, its affiliated agencies, organizations, and public officials.
The city image visualizing social distancing will appear on the upper left of the Suwon City website through April 20. It will also be used on the city's various social media accounts.
For citizens protecting their homes instead of spring outings while practicing social distancing, the city is also holding a 'Shared Happiness' contest.
The Suwon Happiness Mental Health and Welfare Center is accepting submissions throughout April for works depicting methods to overcome stress caused by COVID-19, as well as essays, four-panel comics, and UCC videos expressing encouragement, support, and praise for medical professionals and neighbors.
For the essay category, submissions can include diaries, poems, letters, personal testimonies, and messages of appreciation. Four-panel comics can be submitted as hand-drawn or digitalized files with a story included.
Additionally, UCC videos can be submitted as digital videos of one minute or less without genre restrictions, and group participation is allowed.
Applicants can download the application form and work description form and submit them via mail or email to the staff in charge of the COVID-19 Overcoming Shared Happiness Contest at the Suwon Happiness Mental Health and Welfare Center.
