Korean Traditional Music Artist Nam Sang-il Appointed as Honorary Ambassador for 'Suwon Visit Year'
Suwon Special City has appointed Korean traditional music artist Nam Sang-il as the honorary ambassador for the '2026-2027 Suwon Visit Year.'
Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon Special City presented the ambassador appointment certificate to Nam Sang-il prior to the '2026 Suwon Hwaseong Three Major Festivals Implementation Plan Report' held on the 15th in the city hall conference room.
Ambassador Nam Sang-il is a representative Korean traditional music artist who has conveyed the charm and value of traditional music in an accessible manner. Based on outstanding artistic capabilities and broad recognition, he actively communicates with the public.
As he has consistently engaged in activities to promote traditional culture through Korean traditional music, he is expected to serve as an ambassador connecting the historical significance of Suwon Hwaseong with Suwon's diverse cultural tourism content.
Through the appointment of Ambassador Nam Sang-il, Suwon City plans to publicize the charm of the historical, cultural, and tourism resources Suwon possesses to more citizens and enhance the brand value of 'Suwon as a tourist destination.'
Ambassador Nam Sang-il stated, "As a Suwon citizen, I am delighted to take on the role of promoting the charm of Suwon, where traditional culture and history are alive and thriving," and added, "I will make active efforts to promote Suwon so that not only 2026-2027 but every year becomes a Suwon Visit Year."
Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "Ambassador Nam Sang-il will be a great strength in publicizing the charm of Suwon," and continued, "We will make efforts so that more tourists visit Suwon and have enjoyable experiences here."
