Suwon City Extends Collection Delays and Payment Deadlines for Citizens Facing Livelihood Difficulties
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City has decided to defer collection of non-tax city revenue and extend payment deadlines until the COVID-19 situation concludes, effective from the 6th, targeting citizens and livelihood-dependent taxpayers experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19.
The beneficiaries include direct and indirect victims facing difficulties such as business closures due to confirmed cases, and small merchants, business owners, and citizens temporarily facing hardship due to social distancing measures (including medical, travel, entertainment, distribution, lodging, and food service industries).
The city will implement the following measures: ▲Defer collection on unpaid taxes and suspend asset seizures and auctions of seized property for six months (up to one year maximum) ▲Extend payment deadlines and support installment payments for small merchants and citizens facing temporary economic crises ▲Suspend or lift administrative sanctions against defaulters (restrictions on licensed businesses, seizures, etc.) ▲Provide welfare service guidance for livelihood-dependent taxpayers, and others.
Additionally, the city is reviewing support for citizens who face difficulties in proving direct or indirect COVID-19 impact.
Applicants may submit supporting documents and application forms via phone or fax. After reviewing the supporting documents (regarding livelihood maintenance, changes in sales situations, etc.), the city will notify applicants of the decision on support eligibility.
