Ganghwa County Extends Personal Local Income Tax Payment Deadline to August 31

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Ganghwa County announced on the 2nd that it is extending the personal local income tax payment deadline to August 31 to alleviate the economic burden on taxpayers amid the spread of COVID-19.

With the enforcement of amended local income tax laws, taxpayers are required to separately report and pay the national comprehensive income tax and local personal local income tax starting this year.

In addition to extending the personal local income tax payment deadline, the county is operating a joint reporting center at the Gimpo Tax Service Ganghwa Civil Service Center on the first floor of the annex of the county office until June 1, the deadline for May comprehensive and personal local income tax returns, so taxpayers can report and pay both the national comprehensive income tax and local personal local income tax at once.

To facilitate electronic reporting, the system is set up so that after filing comprehensive income tax on Hometax (www.hometax.go.kr), clicking the personal local income tax reporting button will redirect users to Wetax (www.wetax.go.kr).

To provide convenience to taxpayers subject to comprehensive income tax ‘full filing’, the personal local income tax payment bill is enclosed with the tax office guidance letters. Payment using the enclosed bill is recognized as filing.

A county official said, "We will make active efforts in publicity activities and operating the joint reporting center to minimize taxpayer inconvenience and confusion resulting from the system improvement."
