Pyeongtaek City Establishes New Pyeongtaek-Style Administrative Standards
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City is establishing new Pyeongtaek-style administrative standards to prepare for social and economic changes in the post-COVID era.
On the 20th, the city held a ‘Post-COVID Era, Pyeongtaek City Response Strategy Establishment Report Session’ presided over by Mayor Jung Jang-seon, with the attendance of bureau directors and key department heads.
This report session was held to explore policy ideas across various sectors, as it is anticipated that following the overcoming of COVID-19, new changes different from the previous society—such as the spread of non-face-to-face culture avoiding in-person contact, full-scale utilization of big data and accelerated smartification, and routine risk response—will lead society.
During the report session, the city intensively discussed policies across all administrative sectors including economy and consumption, safety and welfare, and urban space, such as ▲building disaster cooperation communities ▲expanding and reorganizing non-face-to-face civic activity spaces ▲establishing transportation infrastructure in response to increased personal transportation.
Through this meeting, the city plans to discover additional sector-specific policies, and through the Future Innovation Research Group launched and operating last month, establish feasible models and thoroughly prepare for the ‘post-COVID era’.
Mayor Jung Jang-seon stated, “With COVID-19, our way of life and society and economy are undergoing overall changes,” adding, “In a reality where a third space connecting online and offline is becoming everyday life, we will actively discover policy ideas across sectors such as society, economy, and culture to establish and implement Pyeongtaek-style response strategies to address the post-COVID era.”
