Yeongtong-gu Conducts Intensive Disinfection in District as Confirmed Cases Rise
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Yeongtong-gu in Suwon carried out intensive disinfection on the 2nd to prevent local spread following a series of COVID-19 confirmed cases within the district.
Mobilizing 30 people, including Yeongtong-gu Office head Song Young-wan, various department heads, and team members, along with two disinfection vehicles (1 ton and 8 ton), they disinfected the commercial area near Suwon Dongbu Church from the Samsung SDS three-way intersection to the Sehwa four-way intersection.
In addition, each neighborhood's voluntary disinfection team disinfected the school routes and surrounding areas of elementary schools scheduled to resume in-person classes, for the safety of students and local residents. The district had also carried out disinfection around Suwon Dongbu Church, where COVID-19 confirmed cases occurred one after another, on the 1st.
Meanwhile, since March, the district has designated every Wednesday as an “Intensive Disinfection Day” until COVID-19 ends, with the district disinfection team and private disinfection teams cooperating to continuously disinfect multi-use facilities, parks, and other locations.
District Office head Song Young-wan said, “The spread of COVID-19 is increasing, centered on the metropolitan area, and we will not let our guard down and will work to prevent it. I ask all residents to thoroughly comply with disinfection guidelines, such as wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and social distancing.”
