[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 2nd that it has imposed 177 billion won in 'September Regular Property Tax'. This represents a 7.5% increase from last year (164.7 billion won).

The number of property tax assessments for September increased from 413,011 cases in 2019 to 424,168 cases in 2020. The rise in housing prices (individual 4.59%, multi-unit 5.56%) and the increase in publicly announced land prices (5.81%) appear to have influenced the increase in property tax and the number of assessments.

The taxpayers for September's regular property tax are homeowners and landowners as of June 1. If a real estate transaction takes place on June 1, the tax is assessed to the buyer; if it takes place on June 2, it is assessed to the seller who owned the property until June 1. The payment deadline is from September 16 to October 5.

Property taxes can be paid through the Local Tax Portal Service Wetax (www.wetax.go.kr), convenient payment apps (Kakao Pay, Naver, PayCo), bank ATMs, virtual account transfers, local tax account payments, and ARS (1899-7500) credit card payments.

A city official stated, "Since the payment deadline has been extended to October 5 due to the Chuseok holiday, we hope residents will pay on time," and added, "Citizens who have applied for automatic transfer payments must check their account balance and credit card limits."
