Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young Appeals: "Protect Your Family by Following Personal Disease Prevention Guidelines"
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] From August 1 to September 6, it was confirmed that approximately one-quarter of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Suwon were infected by family members.
Suwon City announced on the 8th that among 121 confirmed cases during that period, 33 cases (27.3%) were infected by family members.
According to the city's Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, the number of Suwon COVID-19 confirmed cases infected by family members was 26 from August 1-31 and 7 from September 1-6.
Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young posted on social media stating, "There were cases where a person infected through a meal with an acquaintance transmitted it to their child, and through a person infected through an unknown route, all family members except one were confirmed positive," and urged "Let us strictly follow personal disease prevention guidelines to protect our families from the COVID-19 virus."
He continued, "It is a time when anyone, at any time, anywhere can be infected with the COVID-19 virus," and said, "Let us recall the faces of our beloved parents, spouses, and children and more thoroughly comply with disease prevention guidelines."
Meanwhile, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced "Social distancing level 2.5 measures in the Seoul metropolitan area will be extended through the 13th." General restaurants and casual dining establishments are prohibited from in-restaurant dining from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, with only takeout and delivery permitted. Indoor sports facilities such as gyms, billiard halls, and golf practice ranges will cease operations, and visitation at nursing hospitals will be prohibited.
Starting from 0 o'clock on the 7th of the extension period, the scope of level 2.5 measures has partially expanded. Franchise bakeries, ice cream shops, and bingsu (shaved ice) shops are now subject to takeout and delivery only, similar to other cafes. Additionally, non-face-to-face remote instruction, which was previously limited to private academies, has been expanded to include vocational training institutions providing technical and skilled workforce training for industrial sites.
