[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 28th that it is recruiting 4,329 participants for the '2021 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Program (public interest and market-type activities)'.

The 'public interest-type' includes senior-to-senior care activities (where healthy seniors care for elderly living alone), support activities for vulnerable groups, and public facility volunteer work. The 'market-type' includes operation of small shops and storefronts.

For the public interest-type program, applicants must be Suwon residents aged 65 or older receiving basic pension benefits. For the market-type program, all Suwon citizens aged 60 or older may apply.

However, those receiving living or medical assistance under the National Basic Living Security Act, workplace health insurance subscribers, persons with long-term care insurance grade determinations (grades 1-5 and cognitive support grade), and those participating in two or more job programs run by government ministries or local governments cannot apply.

Citizens wishing to participate can apply online by selecting an implementing organization through the Senior Job Portal (www.seniorro.or.kr) or Bokjiro (www.bokjiro.go.kr) websites.

Those who have difficulty applying online can visit the implementing organization with a resident registration certificate and identification card. The public interest-type application period runs until December 18, while the market-type application period is from December 7 to 18.

The 14 implementing organizations include Suwon Senior Club, senior welfare centers, comprehensive social welfare centers, and the Jangan, Paldal, Gwonseon, and Yeongtong district branches of the Korean Senior Association.

Participants will be selected by each implementing organization and will engage in activities from January through December next year. Public interest-type participants will work at least 30 hours per month (up to 3 hours per day) and receive 270,000 won in monthly activity allowance. Market-type participants will work up to 8 hours per day, with compensation determined by business profits.

A city official stated, "We will guide seniors to apply safely while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines," and added, "We will make every effort to create senior jobs and support social activities."
