Gyeonggi Province Conducts Full COVID-19 Screenings of 6,327 Employees Over Two Days...One Confirmed at Direct Agency
[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun] While Gyeonggi Province is conducting preemptive COVID-19 screenings for all employees, 6,327 people were tested at the Suwon Gyeonggi Province Government Building and the Gyeonggi Human Resources Development Institute on the 13th and 14th, and one employee from a direct agency tested positive, the province announced on the 15th.
The province promptly notified health centers of the confirmed case.
Colleagues working in the same office all tested negative, but were placed in 14-day self-quarantine as close contacts. The office was temporarily closed and disinfection measures were implemented.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province is conducting full COVID-19 screening of approximately 12,000 employees of all positions—general and contract workers—at the province and public institutions from the 13th to the 19th as a preemptive measure to prevent large-scale cluster infections that could result from asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers.
Gyeonggi Province plans to continue COVID-19 testing on the 18th and 19th next week at the Gyeonggi Northern Office, screening employees of the Northern Office and provincial affiliated public institutions.
A provincial official stated, "Through preemptive screening of all employees, we were able to quickly identify infected individuals," and added, "We will do our best to promote preemptive testing to alleviate public anxiety."
