Pyeongtaek City Opens Third Citizen's Garden, 'Citizen Participation Garden'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] On the 23rd, Pyeongtaek City designated the Citizen Participation Garden created at the Agricultural Ecology Park in Oseong-myeon as the 'third Citizen's Garden' and held an opening ceremony themed 'Promise of Green' to commemorate the occasion.

The Citizen Participation Garden, designated as the third Citizen's Garden, is a themed garden created by materializing opinions proposed by citizens through business briefing sessions and one-on-one consulting targeting eup, myeon, and dong areas from 2020 onwards, with nine eup, myeon, and dong areas participating in its creation.

The nine themed gardens will install materials and sculptures (traditional wooden poles, fences, earthenware jar stands, swings, charcoal kilns, flower pots, star-shaped flower pots, moon-shaped stone sculptures, rock formations, etc.) that can symbolize each region based on local residents' opinions, and will plant 1,652 trees of 32 species including pine trees and 6,270 plants of 21 species including bistorta japonica, and plan to manage them together with citizens who participated in the garden creation.

Mayor Jung Jang-seon said, "The third Citizen's Garden is a small garden created by symbolizing local characteristics through citizen participation, and I hope it becomes an opportunity for gardens to be loved as familiar spaces in daily life and for garden culture to spread."
