'Suwon City Women's Award' Goes to Kim Myung-ran, Yoo In-sook, Kim Ok-hwan, and Park Chun-ja

Recognized for contributing to the development of Suwon's women's community and for efforts to build a gender-equal society

[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Jung Jun-seong] Suwon City has selected Kim Myung-ran (53, head of the Suwon branch of the Gyeonggi Traditional Ceremony Research Institute), Yoo In-sook (55, representative of People Who Practice Lifelong Learning), Kim Ok-hwan (61, leader of Dandelion of Sharing and Love), and Park Chun-ja (77, advisor to the Suwon City Women Entrepreneurs Council) as the recipients of the '17th Suwon City Women's Award.'

Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young presented plaques to the four recipients at the award ceremony held at the medium conference room of Suwon City Hall on the 2nd.

The recipients of this Suwon City Women's Award were each selected one from the following categories: ▲gender equality and the promotion of women's rights ▲expanding women's social participation ▲promoting women's welfare and service ▲community development, in the women entrepreneur category.

Established in 2005, the 'Suwon City Women's Award' is presented to Suwon women who have contributed to the development of Suwon's women's community and made efforts to build a gender-equal society, and this year marks its 17th edition.

Meanwhile, Mayor Yeom Tae-young said, "We are now living in an unprecedented era of division, confrontation, and conflict," adding, "This is a time when warm 'women's leadership' that communicates with an open mind is desperately needed."

He continued, "Please serve as a pillar of support so that women can participate more in city administration and voice their opinions in all corners of everyday life," and promised, "I will pay careful attention to creating an environment where women can become true leaders of our society and demonstrate their capabilities."
