Mayor Yom Tae-young: "I Will Design a City Worthy of Suwon Special City Citizens' Status and Dignity"
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Mayor Yom Tae-young of Suwon stated, "In 2022, the Year of the Tiger, I will design a city that is more livable and more beautiful, befitting the status and dignity of Suwon Special City citizens."
At the 'New Year's Administrative Ceremony with Citizens' held on the 3rd at the multipurpose cultural space 111CM, Mayor Yom unveiled a New Year's address with the theme "Welcoming the First Year of Suwon Special City, An Era of Great Transformation," and said, "On the 13th, Suwon citizens will become 'Suwon Special City citizens.'" He added, "I will make an all-out effort to secure administrative and work authority that will drive tangible changes felt by citizens, and to expand finances."
He continued, "Now I will properly complete the realization of the 'Greater Suwon' project. I will faithfully tie up each and every promise I made to citizens, and make it a stepping stone for the eighth popularly-elected term of administration."
The major policies to be promoted in 2022 include ▲support for self-reliance of small business owners ▲strengthening cooperative governance and completing citizen-centered government ▲policy changes to address the climate crisis ▲preparing 100-year food security through tourism projects and future growth engines.
Mayor Yom stated, "I am grateful to all small business owners and self-employed individuals who faithfully followed quarantine guidelines while making sacrifices in the fight against infectious disease, medical personnel who persevered through extreme heat and bitter cold, citizens who volunteered at vaccination centers, and all Suwon citizens who united their efforts to overcome the crisis. Thanks to you, we were able to achieve shining results even in the difficult struggle against infectious disease."
