[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] The Inaugural Transition Committee for the 8th elected term Suwon Metropolitan City Mayor will hold a plaque ceremony at the Suwon Convention Center on the morning of the 8th and commence full-scale activities.

The 8th elected term Transition Committee has been structured under the motto of 'a transition committee centered on reporting to citizens,' focusing on establishing detailed plans to advance the pledges of Lee Jae-jun, the Suwon Metropolitan City Mayor-elect, including corporate recruitment and the Suwon military airport relocation project, which he has emphasized since his candidacy.

The Transition Committee has appointed Sung Yeol-hak, CEO of ViViTech, as chairperson; Kim Ho-jin, Suwon City Council member, as vice chairperson; and Kim Do-young, research fellow at the Suwon City Research Institute, as secretary. The committee is slated to comprise 4 divisions—Planning and Coordination, Economy Culture and Education, Welfare Youth and Women, and Urban Environment and Transportation—with a total of 15 members.

Additionally, under the Transition Committee, a task force for military airport relocation will be established to plan Lee Jae-jun's core pledge, along with committees for business and jobs, labor, integrated care and education, citizen community, and sports and culture. Each committee will establish concrete plans for the key pledges in their respective fields that Lee Jae-jun made to citizens in the mayoral election and report them to the public.

The first distinctive feature of this Transition Committee is the full deployment of experts for establishing the future vision of the 8th elected term, rather than organizing it as a transition committee centered on administrative reporting.

To this end, Sung Yeol-hak, CEO of ViViTech, a promising high-tech enterprise in Suwon, has been appointed as chairperson, alongside Professor Hong Kyung-gu from Dankook University, who has spearheaded numerous urban redevelopment projects nationwide; Professor Lee Dong-wook from Bucheon University, who has researched traditional markets and alleyway commercial districts; Professor Kim Hyun, an expert in MICE industry and tourism city policy; and Dr. Kim Do-young from the Suwon City Research Institute, who has researched citizen deliberative committees and direct democracy in the field. These experts have been positioned as transition committee members to establish the policy direction for the 8th elected term Suwon Metropolitan City.

Furthermore, representing field civic activists, Seo Jung-ri, chairman of ICOOP Suwon Cooperative; Jung Jong-hun, standing representative of Suwon Civil Society Council; Moon Eun-jung, activist at Suwon Civitas; and Hong Eun-hwa, director of the Suwon Environmental Movement Center, along with Suwon City Council members Kim Ho-jin, Kim Young-taek, and Hwang Kyung-hee, who have worked closely with citizens and communities, have been appointed to strengthen on-site engagement.

Finally, representing youth and women, Kim Chang-rae, co-chair of the Presidential Election Support Committee for the Gyeonggi Province Democratic Party (20th Presidential Election), and attorney Seo Hyo-young have been appointed, thereby expressing the administration's commitment to innovation regarding youth and women issues in Suwon.

The Lee Jae-jun transition team has announced plans to launch a citizen transition committee (tentative name) website coinciding with the launch of the 8th elected term Transition Committee, allowing Suwon citizens to directly participate in the committee's operations online. The team stated that citizen opinions received will be reflected in the Transition Committee's planning.

A key official from the Lee Jae-jun transition team explained the significance of the committee's composition, stating, "The composition of the 8th elected term Transition Committee reflects the mayor-elect's strong determination to operate as a transition committee where concrete policy plans are jointly established by public officials and field experts and reported to citizens, rather than a transition committee that receives administrative reports from civil servants." The official added, "By regularly reporting and communicating with citizens about the committee's operations and the operations of specialized committees in each field, we will open the beginning of the 8th elected term created together with citizens."
