Lee Chun-taek Hospital Resumes Overseas Medical Professional Training Program Halted by COVID-19
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park No-hun] Lee Chun-taek Hospital, a joint-specialty hospital in Suwon, has been conducting an overseas medical professional training program for Russian trainee physicians for two weeks beginning on the 4th.
Lee Chun-taek Hospital faced difficulties in international medical exchanges due to COVID-19 and was unable to accept foreign trainee physicians after 2019. However, as the COVID-19 situation has become relatively more stable, the hospital has resumed its training program.
YeDahm Lee, a Russian trainee physician who applied for this training session, is a graduate of Novosibirsk State Medical University and an orthopedic surgery resident affiliated with Avicenna Medical Center in Novosibirsk.
The trainee physician received in-depth, hands-on training on the overall treatment process of a Korean orthopedic hospital, including complex surgeries such as robotic joint replacement surgery, outpatient consultations, precision imaging examinations, and physical therapy.
The trainee physician stated, “Although it is a short two weeks, it has been an impressive experience where I have learned a great deal. The hospital system is convenient for both patients and doctors.” He added, “I was particularly curious about the precision of robotic joint replacement surgery, and I was impressed by how safe and efficient the procedures are, befitting the hospital's 20 years of expertise.”
Hospital Director Yoon Sung-hwan of Lee Chun-taek Hospital said, "Our hospital has consistently conducted training for overseas medical professionals and led in disseminating Korea's advanced medical technology," and “We will do our best in the remaining training sessions so that the trainee physician can apply the medical knowledge and skills learned at our hospital when returning to his home country."
