Uiwang City Pilots Book Delivery Service Between Central Library and Private Small Libraries

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-seong] Starting on the 16th, Uiwang City will pilot the ‘Small Book Dream Service,’ which delivers books from the Central Library to private small libraries.

Last year, the Uiwang City libraries were selected for the ‘2022 Small Library Fostering Pilot District’ public offering project supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. As a result, they established an interlibrary loan system between public libraries and private small libraries as well as an integrated small library website, enabling them to share their collections and provide an interlibrary loan (Book Dream) service.

With this, the Book Dream Service, which had previously been carried out by 11 public libraries and public small libraries, will be expanded to include private small libraries, reaching up to 19 locations.

The private small libraries eligible for the Small Book Dream service were arranged with regional balance in mind: △2 in Gocheon-dong (Haengbok, Geulnuri) △1 in Bugok-dong (Deulgoji) △2 in Ojeon-dong (Baekhap, Daemyeong Gureumchae) △3 in Cheonggye-dong (Supsok Ongdalsaem, Ieum, Satongine). By delivering to small libraries within apartment complexes with many residents and to small libraries far from public libraries, the city plans to provide a more proactive and comprehensive library service.

In addition, through the integrated small library website that opened at the end of last December, users can search the collections of public libraries and small libraries in one stop, and can also apply for and receive information about small library reading culture programs.
