Suwon City Completes Korea's First 'Cloud-Based Integrated Common Tasks System for Public Institutions'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon City has built an integrated groupware (electronic document) system for public institutions, completing Korea's first cloud-based integrated common tasks system for public institutions.

Cloud refers to an information system framework that services information and communication resources flexibly according to user needs and demand changes, and is a core technology of the fourth industrial revolution.

From 2020 to 2022, the city built an integrated ERP (budget, accounting, personnel, attendance, and payroll) for Suwon City's public institutions. With this newly constructed integrated groupware system, the city has established a foundation for 12 public institutions to collaborate organically, the city announced on the 8th.

The integrated groupware for public institutions provides services including electronic documents, messenger, web mail, and institutional portals.

In January, seven public institutions including Suwon City Sports Association, Suwon City Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities, and Suwon International Exchange Center transitioned to the integrated groupware. All institutions are expected to use the integrated groupware by July.

With the completion of the integrated common tasks system for public institutions, all of Suwon City's public institutions have built an environment enabling remote work based on information services. Additionally, with all public institutions now able to use electronic documents, handwritten task processing in common institutional tasks has been eliminated, and transparency of materials is ensured. Suwon City has established 'common task standards for public institutions.'

The city was selected for a public contest by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2020 and built a 'private cloud open platform-based integrated budget and accounting system.' It was the first in Korea to build an integrated budget and accounting system for public institutions. In 2021-2022, the city expanded personnel, attendance, and payroll services through its own projects and converted the 'Suwon City Public Institution Integrated ERP Service' to cloud.

On January 31st, the city provided training to public institution employees newly using the integrated groupware (electronic document) system on system operations and task processing methods.

A city official said, "The construction of the integrated groupware system has established a foundation for public institution collaboration, and we expect work efficiency to increase."
