Gyeonggi Province Promotes 73 Grade-5 Team Leaders in Its Largest Personnel Reshuffle
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gapdong] Gyeonggi Province held a Personnel Committee meeting on the 29th and confirmed 73 Grade-5 team leaders for promotion.
The 73 Grade-5 promotions represent the largest scale of promotions in over 20 years, matching the level of 73 people in January 2019. This is 27 people (59%) more than the average of 46 people promoted during the Eighth Democratically-Elected Provincial Government term.
The province explained that this promotion personnel action was based on department head evaluations as the foundation, with particular emphasis on assessing whether candidates possess the competency to successfully advance core provincial policy initiatives as team leaders.
Female consideration and regional balance, which became fundamental principles in personnel promotions during the Eighth Democratically-Elected Provincial Government term, were also applied to this personnel action.
Among the 73 total promotees, 22 were women, accounting for 30%, and 18 were from the northern Gyeonggi region, accounting for 25%.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "Promotions of over 70 senior administrators have occurred only three times in the past 20 years, making this a significant scale of personnel reshuffle. Since this is an important position responsible for leading practical provincial government operations, we expect it to play a major role in more solid and innovative provincial development going forward."
Meanwhile, civil servants selected as promotion candidates are scheduled to complete promotion leadership training courses at the Local Government Human Resources Development Institute in the second half of this year, followed by promotion appointments in the second half of this year or early next year.
