Rapigen Co. Donates 70,000 COVID-19 Self-Test Kits to Suwon City
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-seong] Rapigen Co., a company specializing in the manufacture of in-vitro diagnostic medical devices, has donated 70,000 COVID-19 self-test kits to Suwon Special City.
Rapigen Co. CEO Park Jae-gu and Director Pyo Myeong-su visited Suwon City Hall on the 22nd and delivered the self-test kits to Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun.
The city plans to distribute the self-test kits to infection-vulnerable facilities at high risk of COVID-19 group infections, such as welfare facilities for people with disabilities, welfare facilities for the elderly, and mental rehabilitation facilities.
Rapigen Co. donated 50,000 self-test kits to Suwon City in May 2022, and in December last year contributed 50 million won to two single-parent family welfare facilities in Suwon, steadily practicing sharing.
Park Jae-gu, CEO of Rapigen Co., said, “I hope the COVID-19 self-test kits will help with disease control.”
Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, “With the resurgence of COVID-19, there are concerns about group outbreaks at infection-vulnerable facilities. I thank Rapigen Co. for donating the self-test kits needed for disease control,” adding, “We will respond proactively so that those who use infection-vulnerable facilities can be diagnosed early with the self-test kits without visiting a medical institution.”
Rapigen Co. is the seventh company Suwon City has attracted since the launch of the 8th popularly elected local government. An investment agreement was signed on the 8th.

It was the first domestic company to develop a ‘COVID-19 antigen self-test kit’ that received official product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Its main products include in-vitro diagnostic kits (for COVID-19, pregnancy, etc.) and masks.
