Kim Hyun-soo, First Deputy Mayor of Suwon, Inspects 34㎞ Round-Trip Bicycle Path Route by Bike

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-seong] Kim Hyun-soo, First Deputy Mayor of Suwon Special City, rode a bicycle on the 6th along with officials from the department in charge of eco-friendly transportation facilities to inspect a 34㎞ round-trip section of bicycle paths built along Gyeongsu-daero, the former Suin Line elevated path, and Hwangguji Stream.

They departed from Suwon City Hall and rode a 17㎞ section reaching the lower Hwangguji Stream and Wangsong Lake before returning to Suwon City Hall. It was a four-hour round-trip course.

The city, which is preparing to establish the '26-30 Suwon City Bicycle Use Promotion Master Plan' (a five-year plan from 2026 to 2030), is devising eco-friendly bicycle policies for a 'major shift to an eco-friendly transportation system,' including △bicycle highways △specialized bicycle infrastructure in station areas △expansion of the bicycle path network.

Meanwhile, the city plans to hold the '8th Transportation Policy Development Forum' on the 15th to discuss the present and future of Suwon City's bicycle paths together with experts and citizens.

First Deputy Mayor Kim Hyun-soo said, "Based on the results of today's inspection, we will establish comprehensive measures to improve the connectivity of bicycle paths and the shortage of infrastructure," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to develop policies that can promote the use of bicycles, an eco-friendly means of transportation."
