Suwon City Accepts Applications for 2025 Military Noise Damage Compensation

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Special City announced on the 8th that it will accept applications for '2025 Military Noise Damage Compensation' until February 28th.

Residents (including foreigners) who had a resident registration in noise control areas in Suwon and actually resided there from November 27, 2020 to December 31, 2024 can apply. Noise control areas can be verified on the Ministry of Defense Military Noise Portal (https://mnoise.mnd.go.kr).

Applicants can submit their applications by choosing one of three methods: in-person visit, registered mail, or through the Government 24 website/app (available from January 14th).

In-person applications can be submitted at the Administrative Welfare Centers in Pyeongdong-dong, Guun-dong, Seryu 2-dong, and Gogsun-dong, the Seodun-dong Community Center (138 Seoho-ro, Gwonseon-gu), and the Tapdong Citizens Farm (155 Seodun-ro, Gwonseon-gu). From January 8th to 14th, a five-day birth year five-digit system will be applied. On Mondays, people whose birth year ends in 1 or 6 can apply; Tuesday 2 or 7; Wednesday 3 or 8; Thursday 4 or 9; Friday 5 or 0.

Applications can be submitted by sending required documents via registered mail to the Suwon City Hall, Airport Relocation Division and Military Noise Compensation Team (241 Hyowon-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon). Applications with a postal stamp dated by February 28th will be accepted. Online applications can be submitted starting January 14th through the Government 24 website or app.

Applicants must submit an application form, identification card, a copy of a bankbook in the applicant's name, and workplace documents showing the actual work address. The application form can be downloaded from the Suwon City website (https://www.suwon.go.kr) > Suwon News > City News bulletin board.

Compensation will be calculated on a pro-rata basis according to the actual period of residence and will be reduced considering the move-in timing and employment status (workplace/business).

A city official stated, "The noise control areas may change depending on the Ministry of Defense's noise impact measurement this year," and urged residents to "apply within the deadline."
