Gyeonggi Province Creates 9,163 Jobs for People with Disabilities, Investing 72.5 Billion Won This Year

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 5th that it will create 9,163 jobs for people with disabilities this year.

To achieve this, the province has prepared 27 detailed implementation projects for job creation for people with disabilities and announced the "2025 Gyeonggi Province Job Creation Project Plan for People with Disabilities," which involves an investment of 72.5 billion won, an increase of 4.9 billion won from last year.

By expanding the job creation project for people with disabilities to enable them to engage in social participation and generate stable income through job provision, the province will prepare 4,944 positions, the largest scale in the nation, including administrative assistants at municipal governments, library assistants, disabled parking zone guides, environmental cleanup workers, and school meal service helpers, as well as specialized services by disability type such as blind massage therapist dispatch and developmental disability care helper assistants.

For the customized job proposal project for people with disabilities, jobs will be provided for the development of various occupational skills of people with severe disabilities and promotion of employment through expansion of project scope and duration.

The standard for deploying occupational rehabilitation teachers for people with disabilities using vocational rehabilitation facilities for people with disabilities has been changed to one teacher per eight people, improving the quality of vocational training and vocational rehabilitation services so that people with disabilities can find jobs suited to their abilities and aptitudes.

In addition, specialized vocational training will be provided for specialized positions including △advanced vocational training for blind massage therapists, △occupational rehabilitation education projects for people with severe disabilities, △taxi driver training programs, and △assistive device management specialist training for people with developmental disabilities, and education and job placement linkages will also be promoted.

Kim Ha-na, Director of the Welfare Bureau at the province, stated, "We are continuously strengthening collaboration with relevant agencies in people with disabilities' employment to create specialized jobs," and added, "We will do our best to revitalize employment for people with disabilities by providing more opportunities, more equal opportunities, and better opportunities."
