Ganghwa-gun and Bupyeong-gu Sign Agreement to Supply Ganghwa Island Rice
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Ganghwa-gun and Bupyeong-gu (Mayor Cha Jun-taek) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 5th to supply 40 tons of Ganghwa Island rice annually to senior community centers in Bupyeong-gu.
Under the agreement, Bupyeong-gu will purchase 40 tons of Ganghwa Island rice each year and provide it to 181 senior community centers in the district. Ganghwa-gun plans to secure a stable sales channel for Ganghwa Island rice while also promoting the brand.
At the signing ceremony, Ganghwa County Mayor Park Yong-cheol, Bupyeong-gu Mayor Cha Jun-taek, and Kim Yeong-yun, representative of the Ganghwa-gun NongHyup Rice Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, agreed to continue mutual cooperation to stably supply high-quality rice to senior citizens.
Meanwhile, Ganghwa-gun has been promoting a project to help sell Ganghwa Island rice with basic municipalities in Incheon City since 2023. This year, including Bupyeong-gu, it plans to supply a total of 200 tons to 728 senior community centers in Yeonsu-gu, Namdong-gu, Gyeyang-gu, and Dong-gu.
Bupyeong-gu Mayor Cha Jun-taek said, “Ganghwa Island rice is recognized as one of the finest in the country for its excellent quality, so the senior citizens at the community centers will be greatly pleased,” adding, “Through continued cooperation with Ganghwa-gun, we will strengthen both agricultural development and senior welfare, and work toward mutual regional development.”
County Mayor Park Yong-cheol said, “Through this agreement, we expect to widely promote Ganghwa-gun's excellent agricultural products and contribute to increasing farm household income,” adding, “We will continue to cooperate with various local governments and organizations to do our utmost to secure sales channels and promote consumption of Ganghwa's agricultural products.”
