Gyeonggi Province Passes 42.19 Trillion Won Second Supplementary Budget
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] Gyeonggi Province's 2025 second supplementary budget totaling 42.19 trillion won passed through the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly on the 19th.
This represents an increase of 2.91 trillion won compared to the first supplementary budget of 39.28 trillion won this year, with 2.74 trillion won added to the general account and 173.5 billion won to special accounts. The supplementary budget includes major projects for economic recovery of people's livelihoods, support for future industries, assistance to vulnerable populations, and ensuring public safety for residents.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon attended the 386th extraordinary session of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly and said, "I will implement swiftly and efficiently the precious budget approved today so that it can serve as a catalyst for economic recovery of people's livelihoods and improvement in quality of life."
Projects for recovery of people's livelihoods include △consumption vouchers for livelihood recovery of 3.12 trillion won △local currency issuance support of 99 billion won △delivery express service activation project of 1 billion won △Gyeonggi Pass of 5.2 billion won △special housing subsidy for young people of 9.4 billion won, totaling 3.24 trillion won.
The budget to support customized care for vulnerable populations and others totals 132 billion won. For low birth rate crisis response projects, △fertility treatment expenses for infertile couples of 1.7 billion won △maternal and newborn health management of 6.3 billion won were reflected. Additionally, to strengthen public responsibility for children and youth during growth periods, △eco-friendly school meal support of 2.9 billion won △universal sanitary product support for female youth of 850 million won were reflected. For customized support for vulnerable populations, △support for smart learning devices at community children's centers of 700 million won △subsidy for elderly sports facility usage of 6 billion won △expansion of daytime activity services for individuals with developmental disabilities and other 11.1 billion won were also reflected.
To ensure public safety, △fire insurance for disaster-vulnerable populations of 1.4 billion won △disaster response and flood recovery expenses of 32.6 billion won for areas heavily affected by recent heavy rains such as Gapyeong and Pocheon △32.6 billion won in disaster response and recovery expenses △39.3 billion won for maintenance and recovery of areas at risk of floods and typhoons were allocated. While protecting residents' lives and property, the province expects to further enhance disaster response capabilities by strengthening preventive systems.
Finally, 4.4 billion won was reflected for continued support to tariff and export-related companies and projects to foster future industries. △AI demonstration challenge program of 500 million won △AI and quantum technology demonstration and consulting of 360 million won △creation of small and medium-sized smart cities of 3.5 billion won were allocated to continue sustainable investment in preparing for the future.
