Ganghwa County Recognized for National Cancer Management Project
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Ganghwa County announced on the 14th that it won the Grand Prize at the "2025 Incheon Regional National Cancer Management Excellence Competition" hosted by the Incheon Regional Cancer Center.
The Incheon Regional National Cancer Management Excellence Competition is an annual event held by the Incheon Regional Cancer Center where it comprehensively evaluates national cancer screening, home-based cancer care, cancer prevention promotion and education at 10 district and county health centers in Incheon and 6 branches of the National Health Insurance Service, selecting outstanding institutions.
Ganghwa County submitted its case under the theme "Community-Protected Health Management for Home-Based Cancer Patients in Ganghwa County" and as a result, achieved a remarkable first-place finish among a total of 16 institutions.
Among the county's cases, the expansion of integrated home nursing-centered services for health management of home-based cancer patients received high evaluation. Additionally, professional nursing staff provide customized nursing services including wound, bedsore, and tube management, and there are also services providing health management supplies and nutritional supplements to patients facing significant economic burdens.
In particular, the "Home-Based Cancer Patient Self-Help Meeting" program is a program where patients and families participate together to recover vitality and self-esteem in life, which is also receiving high response.
Beyond this, various activities including "Nutrition Meal Preparation," "Pottery," and "Laughter Therapy and Horticultural Healing" are being operated, with participant satisfaction at 91%, demonstrating high satisfaction levels.
A health center official stated, "This award is the fruit of efforts that Ganghwa County has steadily built together with the community, and we will continue to do our best to achieve early detection and prevention of cancer and to eliminate gaps in patient care."
