Hwaseong Municipal Dubbitnarae Children's Library Reopens on September 17 After Renovation
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced that the Hwaseong Municipal Dubbitnarae Children's Library will reopen on the 17th after completing facility improvements and renovations.
Opened in June 2009, the Dubbitnarae Children's Library has served the reading culture needs of local residents for the past 17 years and has functioned as a learning and cultural space for children and families.
The renovation project was carried out in accordance with Hwaseong City's Comprehensive Library Development Plan (2024-2028) and the Gyeonggi Province Public Library Establishment Support Project for 2026. A total of 360 million won was invested, comprising 100 million won in provincial funds and 260 million won in city funds. Construction began in July.
The city comprehensively improved internal spaces and facilities to increase space utilization and provide users with greater convenience in using the library.
First, the infant materials room on the first floor was reconfigured into a more open space by integrating and expanding the existing space. The second floor converted the existing acquisitions and processing room into an English materials room and integrated it with the existing materials room to enhance space utilization. The former English materials room on the third floor has been newly designed as a user lounge and cultural classroom, allowing citizens to enjoy reading, relaxation, and cultural activities together.
Additionally, the overall usage environment of the library was improved by renovating the deteriorated "Light Sunrise" staircase on the first floor and replacing the lobby floor, furniture, and heating and cooling systems.
Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong Special City said, "I hope the newly renovated Dubbitnarae Children's Library will become a space of learning that fosters knowledge and imagination for children, and a cultural space in daily life where citizens can enjoy reading, relaxation, and cultural activities together."
