Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center Selects 33 Second-Round Partner Companies…Expanding Technology Exchange Between Military and Enterprises
The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center has newly selected 33 second-round partner companies and is accelerating efforts to expand technology exchange between the military and enterprises while supporting the entry of small and medium-sized and venture businesses in the province into the defense industry.
The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center is a specialized defense industry support institution jointly operated by Gyeonggi Province, the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute, and Pocheon City. It opened in February to support small and medium-sized and venture businesses in the province facing difficulties entering the defense sector, offering support for identifying defense projects, technology development, and market development to facilitate their entry into the defense industry.
On the 9th, Gyeonggi Province held the '2026 Second Round Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center Partner Company Agreement Signing Ceremony and Technology Exchange Meeting' at the International Conference Room of Daejin University Library and signed business agreements with 33 companies. Following this agreement, the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center's partner companies have increased to a total of 71, including the 38 first-round partner companies selected in the first half of the year.
The 33 selected companies are small and medium-sized enterprises in Gyeonggi Province with technological capabilities in diverse fields including drones and unmanned systems, precision machinery, AI solutions, and special materials. The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center provides comprehensive support to these partner companies for entering the defense sector and strengthening competitiveness, including defense commercialization support, technology support, marketing, and defense-related information provision.
The event was attended by approximately 150 people, including officials from Gyeonggi Province and Pocheon City, the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute, the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, Daejin University, and Gyeonggi Daejin Technopark, as well as Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center partner companies.
The event proceeded with the presentation of honorary plaques to partner companies and company introductions, followed by information on partner company support programs. At the subsequent technology exchange meeting, military officials from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps directly participated to introduce military research and development requirement planning and engaged in one-on-one consultations to share the technology possessed by companies and the research and development needs of the military, while exploring the possibility of business participation.
Jo Jang-seok, director of Gyeonggi Province's Balanced Development Planning Division, said, "As the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center is now collaborating with 71 partner companies in its first year of operation, it is important to now connect the excellent technology of enterprises with the actual needs of the military to create tangible results. We will continuously identify the support needed in the field and strengthen cooperation with relevant organizations to actively contribute to enhancing the K-defense industry competitiveness of Gyeonggi Province companies."
