Hwaseong Special City Launches 'Third Sustainable Development Committee'…Discusses Values of Growth, Inclusion, and Fairness

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myung-keun) held the inaugural appointment ceremony for the Third Sustainable Development Committee on the 10th and convened its first regular meeting in the conference room of Hwaseong City Hall.

The Hwaseong Special City Sustainable Development Committee is an organization that deliberates on and advises on the city's sustainable development-related policies. It comprises a total of 25 members, including ex-officio members such as the Hwaseong Special City Mayor and appointed members including experts in the sustainable development field, members of the Hwaseong Sustainable Development Council, and city council members.

At the first regular meeting held following the appointment ceremony, members shared progress on the implementation of Hwaseong Special City's sustainable development master plan and plans for future evaluation, and exchanged opinions on major policy directions.

The committee members reached consensus that sustainable development is an important value that must be reflected in municipal administration across all fields of environment, economy, and society. They also agreed that systematic implementation and continuous monitoring are necessary to enhance policy effectiveness.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myung-keun stated, "Sustainable development is a core value that we must pursue to both enhance residents' current quality of life and secure our city's future competitiveness. I will faithfully reflect the expertise of committee members and diverse voices from the field in municipal administration to further strengthen the foundation of a sustainable city where current and future generations can prosper together."

Meanwhile, Hwaseong Special City plans to systematically monitor the implementation of sustainable development policies based on the policy advisory and evaluation functions of the Sustainable Development Committee, and to reflect the values of growth, inclusion, and fairness across municipal administration.
