Mansei-gu District of Hwaseong Special City Installs Flood Emergency Exit Facilities at Geumgok Underpass

Mansei-gu District of Hwaseong Special City announced on the 11th that it has installed emergency exit facilities equipped with rescue boxes and emergency ladders at Geumgok underpass in the area around 815-8 Sangsin-ri, Hyangnam-eup, in preparation for flooding accidents in underpasses caused by heavy downpours.

This project was undertaken to create an environment where citizens can evacuate quickly when emergency situations such as underpass flooding or vehicle stranding occur due to concentrated rainfall, and to prevent loss of life and property damage.

In particular, Geumgok underpass is the first case in Hwaseong Special City's underpasses where emergency exit facilities equipped with both rescue boxes and emergency ladders have been installed. Mansei-gu plans to regularly inspect and maintain the rescue boxes and emergency ladders so that citizens can quickly use the facilities in case of emergency.

Hong No-mi, head of Mansei-gu District Office, said, "Since underpasses can flood rapidly when heavy rainfall occurs in a short period of time, it is important to prepare evacuation means in advance so that citizens can evacuate quickly in urgent situations. We expect that the emergency exit facilities installed this time will serve as a safety mechanism protecting citizens' lives in actual disaster situations."

Going forward, Mansei-gu plans to regularly inspect the emergency exit facilities at Geumgok underpass, and strengthen prevention-focused safety management by identifying disaster-vulnerable facilities in advance and supplementing necessary safety equipment.
