Yongin Special Municipality Council Meets with East Timorese Youth for 'Future Generation Exchange' for Second Consecutive Year

The Yongin Special Municipality Council (Council Chair Jang Jeong-soon) met on the 10th with students and officials from St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic School in East Timor, sharing experiences and thoughts in the fields of culture, education, and welfare, creating an opportunity for exchange among future generations of the two countries.

In particular, this meeting is significant in that the connection that began when Ethics Special Committee Chair Kim Hee-young invited East Timorese youth to the Yongin Special Municipality Council last year has continued for two consecutive years.

At the meeting, Council Chair Jang Jeong-soon, Cultural Welfare Committee Chair Hwang Jae-wook, and members of the Cultural Welfare Committee welcomed the East Timorese youth and shared diverse thoughts in the fields of culture, education, and welfare, adding deeper meaning to the future generation exchange.

Ethics Special Committee Chair Kim Hee-young stated, "The connection that began by introducing the council last year has become even more meaningful by meeting again this year and sharing thoughts and experiences about each other's culture, education, and welfare," and added, "I hope this meeting will not end as a one-time visit but will develop into a sustained connection linking the future generations of Yongin and East Timor."

Council Chair Jang Jeong-soon said, "I sincerely welcome the East Timorese youth who have visited the Yongin Special Municipality Council for the second year in a row," and expressed, "I hope this meeting will be a meaningful time to understand each other's cultures and experience a wider world."

The event was attended by Fr. Peter Seo Buk-won, pastor of Sang-hyeon Cathedral, and church officials, as well as four students from St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic School in East Timor and Sister Columba Seo Geon-soon from the Korean Martyrs Sisters of St. Columban.

The Yongin Special Municipality Council plans to continue expanding opportunities for exchange with future generations at home and abroad, allowing youth to experience diverse cultures and communities, communicate with one another, and grow.
