Police Response to 'Weapon Attacks'... Gyeonggi Northern Autonomous Police Youth Supporters Experience Firsthand

The Gyeonggi Northern Autonomous Police Commission conducted a mock drill observation activity on the 11th at the Field Training Center in Jangam Police Box under Uijeongbu Police Station, enabling young people to directly understand the police's field response system to various crisis situations including weapon attacks and crimes with unusual motives.

The training instructor was led by Shin In-ho, head of the Patrol Team 5 at Shingok District Police Box of Uijeongbu Police Station, who was selected as the top patrol team leader at district police boxes nationwide last year. Team Leader Shin explained the actual response procedures, including initial measures, on-scene judgment, suspect apprehension, and safety assurance when a weapon attack situation occurs, before 18 members of the 5th Autonomous Police Youth Supporters who attended the training.

Students directly felt how crucial swift police judgment and response are for citizen safety in urgent crisis situations based on actual scenarios. Two incumbent police officer mentors participating in collaborative activities with the supporters also attended, answering questions about police duties and the role of autonomous police, while sharing actual field experience and communicating with the youth.

Lee Sang-ro, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Northern Autonomous Police Commission, said, "Swift and systematic field response by police is important to protect residents' safety in crisis situations," and added, "We will continue to actively support young people in directly experiencing various security situations and understanding the role of autonomous police so that they can widely inform the local community about it."
