Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that it will operate a photo exhibition promoting abandoned animal adoption at Starfield Market Dongtan Branch through October 11.

The photo exhibition is the third activity of the 'Pet Adoption Week' that Gyeonggi Province has been carrying out since 2024 to promote proper pet culture and improve awareness of abandoned animals. The third event collaborates with Starfield Market Dongtan Branch, a community space in the region, to reach residents in their daily lives.

The animals participating are approximately 40 dogs, cats, and other animals waiting for new families at 'Banryeo Maru,' a comprehensive facility for protecting and adopting abandoned animals directly operated by Gyeonggi Province, with the exhibition held in two phases.

In the first phase, from September 11 to September 25, photos of approximately 20 dogs waiting for adoption at the 'Banryeo Maru Yeoju' center will be displayed. In the second phase, from September 26 to October 11, photos of approximately 20 dogs and cats under protection at 'Banryeo Maru Hwaseong' and 'Pet Adoption Center (Suwon)' will be displayed.

The photo exhibition will be held at the Book Ground on the 2nd floor and Kids Ground on the 3rd floor of Starfield Market Dongtan Branch, a multi-use facility that receives an average of approximately 20,000 visitors on weekends, targeting children and family-unit visitors to improve awareness of abandoned animals and promote adoption activities.

Byeon Hui-jeong, head of the Pet Division, said, "This photo exhibition has great significance in changing the perception of abandoned animals and establishing proper pet culture in spaces that residents frequently visit," and added, "We hope residents will show warm interest in abandoned animals in Gyeonggi Province during holiday periods such as Chuseok and National Foundation Day when family visits are high."
