Gwangmyeong City Launches Education Policy Council to Advance Local Community and Education

Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) is now formally launching a cooperative system to jointly respond to local education issues. The city held the 'Gwangmyeong City Education Policy Council Launch Ceremony and First Regular Meeting' at the Lifelong Learning Center on the 18th.

The Gwangmyeong City Education Policy Council was established for the first time in accordance with the 'Gwangmyeong City Education Policy Council Composition and Operation Ordinance' enacted earlier this year. The purpose is for local education stakeholders—including the city government, the education office, and parents—to discuss current educational issues and explore the direction for local education development.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won and Gwangmyeong Education Support Office Director Kim Myeong-soon serve as co-chairs, with diverse education stakeholders including city council members, education experts, school principals, and parents participating as committee members.

The city plans to operate the council regularly to gather diverse opinions from the education field and share local education issues, thereby implementing effective education policies tailored to local education needs.

At today's meeting, following the presentation of appointment certificates and the election of vice-chairs, major education projects from Gwangmyeong City and the Gwangmyeong Education Support Office were shared, and inter-agency cooperation measures were discussed.

The city introduced major projects including △support for youth hair and beauty services △youth facility operation status △elementary school field trip operations and similar initiatives.

The Gwangmyeong Education Support Office introduced △the 'Gwangmyeong-type Science and Convergence School Operation' project, which establishes a foundation for science and convergence education at general high schools in the area △Gwangmyeong international exchange promotion projects, and discussed cooperation measures for the smooth implementation of education projects.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won stated, "Education is not solely the domain of schools but an important foundation for the future created together by the community," and added, "We will reflect the opinions of diverse education stakeholders in our policies to provide a better educational environment."
