Hwaseong Special City Establishes 13 Dedicated Police Vehicle Parking Spaces to Address Public Safety Demands

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced on the 21st that in cooperation with the Hwaseong Special City Council, Hwaseong Seobu Police Station, and Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station, it will establish dedicated police vehicle parking spaces at 13 key public safety demand areas including Dongtan Station, Central Park, and Byeongjeom Commercial District, and commence operations before the Chuseok holiday.

This project was pursued to support rapid police response and smooth patrol activities during emergency situations such as 112 calls by linking police field public safety activities with the city's parking administration.

The institutional foundation for the project was established through an ordinance sponsored by Hwaseong Special City Councilor Choi Eun-hee. Subsequently, Hwaseong Seobu Police Station and Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station comprehensively analyzed 112 call status, public safety demands, floating populations, and patrol necessity to identify areas requiring police dispatch and patrol bases, and requested the city to establish dedicated parking spaces.

Reflecting the police's request, the city reviewed on-site conditions and traffic safety for each target area and designated and announced a total of 13 locations as dedicated police vehicle parking spaces: six in the western area and seven in the eastern area. The city then completed facility installation before the Chuseok holiday to respond to increased public safety demands during the holiday period.

Police plan to utilize the parking spaces as bases for rapid scene response and patrols when public safety demands occur, such as 112 calls.

In particular, the city also installed solar-powered LED guidance signs so the dedicated police vehicle parking spaces can be easily identified even at night. This enhances nighttime visibility to prevent parking by general vehicles and allows police vehicles to use the spaces immediately when needed.

Target installation sites were selected with emphasis on practical public safety activities. These include Dongtan Station, Central Park, and Byeongjeom Commercial District, as well as areas such as Hyungnam, Bongdam, Namyang, and Bibong where 112 calls and floating populations are high or rapid police scene access is necessary.

Additionally, areas requiring nighttime patrols and crime prevention activities, such as women's safe return home routes, single-room residential concentrations, parks, and commercial areas, were also included to enhance police field response capabilities.

By completing the installation before the Chuseok holiday, we expect to proactively respond to increased public safety demands during the holiday period."
