Hwaseong Special City Establishes 13 Police Vehicle Exclusive Parking Spaces to Address Public Security Needs

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) announced on the 21st that in cooperation with the Hwaseong Special City Council, Hwaseong West Police Station, and Hwaseong Daedan Police Station, it has installed police vehicle exclusive parking spaces at 13 major public security demand areas including Dongtan Station, Central Park, and Byeongjeom Commercial Center, and will commence operations before the Chuseok holiday.

This project was promoted to support rapid police response and smooth patrol activities in emergency situations such as 112 emergency calls by linking police on-site public security activities with the city's parking administration.

The institutional foundation for the project was established through an ordinance co-sponsored by Hwaseong Special City Council Member Choi Eun-hee. Subsequently, Hwaseong West Police Station and Hwaseong Daedan Police Station comprehensively analyzed 112 emergency call trends, public security demands, floating populations, and patrol necessity to identify areas requiring police vehicle dispatch and patrol bases, and requested the city to install exclusive parking spaces.

The city reflected the police requests and examined on-site conditions and traffic safety at target locations, designating and announcing a total of 13 locations as police vehicle exclusive parking spaces, comprising 6 locations in the western district and 7 locations in the eastern district. The city then completed facility installation before the Chuseok holiday to effectively respond to increased public security demands during the holiday period.

Police will utilize the designated spaces as bases for rapid on-site dispatch and patrol activities in response to public security demands such as 112 emergency calls.

In particular, the city installed solar-powered LED guide signs so that police vehicle exclusive parking spaces can be easily recognized even at night. This measure enhances nighttime visibility to prevent general vehicles from parking and enable police vehicles to use the spaces immediately when needed.

Target installation locations were selected with a focus on practical public security activities. In addition to Dongtan Station, Central Park, and Byeongjeom Commercial Center, areas with high 112 emergency calls and floating populations such as Hyungnam, Bongdam, Namyang, and Bibong, as well as areas requiring rapid police access, are included.

Furthermore, areas requiring nighttime patrol and crime prevention activities, including women's safety return routes, concentrated one-room residential areas, parks, and commercial districts, were also included to enhance police on-site response capabilities.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun stated, "This project is the result of collaboration in which police, who best understand local public security situations, identified necessary locations and the city rapidly provided support in administrative and facility aspects. We expect to proactively respond to increased public security demands during the holiday period by completing installation before the Chuseok holiday."
