Yangju City Supports Relocation of 55 Vulnerable Households to Public Rental Housing

A total of 55 vulnerable households in Yangju City who had been living in goshiwons (small private rooms), multi-occupancy dwellings, semi-basements, and similar substandard housing have relocated to public rental housing.

Since launching its 2024 Housing Enhancement Support Project for vulnerable populations, Yangju City has assisted 55 households with relocation. In the first half of this year, 42 households applied for the project, with 14 of them completing their move to public rental housing. An additional 13 households are scheduled to move in by October.

On the 17th, 8 vulnerable households from vulnerable populations signed LH rental lease contracts at the LH Yangju Residential Welfare Office. The Yangju City Housing Welfare Center accompanied the signings to provide procedural support, and the 8 households will move in sequentially.

The Housing Enhancement Support Project assists tenant households without property who have resided for more than three months in substandard housing such as non-residential or below-ground spaces in relocating to public rental housing. Target beneficiaries are households whose monthly average income is 50 percent or less of the average for urban workers from the previous year and who meet related requirements including asset standards for permanent rental housing eligibility.

The Yangju City Housing Welfare Center provides comprehensive support throughout the relocation process, including identification and counseling of eligible applicants, public rental housing applications, property viewings, and contract assistance. To ease the financial burden of relocation, the center provides up to 400,000 won in moving expenses and essential supplies valued at approximately 700,000 won.

Following relocation, settlement support and follow-up management continue to ensure housing stability and help residents adapt to their new living situations. Eligible applicants can apply at any time through their local administrative welfare center or the Yangju City Housing Welfare Center, and after counseling, they receive assistance throughout the relocation process, including public rental housing applications, property viewings, and contract procedures.
