Suwon City Council Convenes 285th Extraordinary Session Starting Today

To deliberate on administrative inspection plans for next month and other matters


The Suwon City Council (Council Speaker Kang Jang-bong) will hold the 285th Extraordinary Session over 14 days, beginning with the first plenary session on the 13th, to review ordinance bills, hear reports on major task implementation results for 2011, vote on administrative inspection plans to be conducted on November 24, and conduct inquiries about various pending matters (3 cases).

In this extraordinary session, the council will deliberate on and vote on four ordinance bills proposed by members, including the "Partial Amendment to Suwon City Urban Planning Ordinance" proposed by council member Kim Myeong-uk (Democratic Party, Haenggung-Ingye District), the "Partial Amendment to Suwon City Building Ordinance" by council member Myeong Gyu-hwan (Grand National Party, Haenggung-Ingye District), and the "Suwon City Construction Quality Management Ordinance" by council member Jo Myeong-ja (Democratic Party, Seryou 123 District), as well as 20 items submitted by the Suwon Mayor, including the "Suwon Healthy City Basic Ordinance."

In particular, among the ordinance bills this session, nine public property management plans drawing significant public attention are included, such as approval for the construction of the Paldalgu District Office building, the rebuilding plan for the Suwon Veterans' Hall, and the construction plan for the Haeu Jae Cultural Center.

Additionally, inquiries are planned regarding the manpower recruitment plan for sanitation workers by council member Yeom Sang-hoon (Grand National Party, Yulcheon-Jeongja 1-dong), matters related to the new Lotte Department Store construction site on the KCC land in West Suwon region by council member Kim Hyo-bae (Grand National Party, Seodun-Guun-Ipbuk District), energy management and operational organization and energy management plans by council member Yu Chul-su (Proportional Representation), accident response measures for gas station car wash explosions, and safety measures against fire at accommodations.

Council Speaker Kang Jang-bong stated in his opening remarks, "In this extraordinary session, we urge thorough attention to drafting the administrative inspection plan so that the administrative inspection can be carried out substantively," and added, "Particularly regarding the consecutive gas station explosions that have occurred, the executive branch must be thorough in post-management administrative implementation so that citizens do not feel uneasy."
