Osan City Prepares for 'Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival'
Osan City (Mayor Kwak Sang-wook) plans to hold the '2012 Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival' at Unam Field from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on February 5.
The Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival will be organized by the Osan Cultural Center and will feature experience zones, food booths, pre-event programs, and the main event.
The experience zone will include kite-making, seesawing, jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock), hoop rolling, and the tuho game. The food booths will offer burum, puffed grain snacks, yeot-chigi (taffy pulling), and tteok-mechigi (rice cake pounding).
The pre-event program will feature samulnori (farmers' band percussion) at Sema-dong Eoulmareuang and Korean traditional songs and seonsolri-taryeong (lyrical folk songs) by the Korean National Music Association to entertain citizens. The main event will conclude with remarks from Mayor Kwak Sang-wook, a wish-reading ceremony, and a moon-house burning ritual to mark the end of the Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival.
Additionally, an inter-district yutnori (Korean traditional game) competition will be held in conjunction with the Daeboreum Festival.
