Osan City Selected as Top-Rated Municipality in Public Wastewater Treatment Facility Management

Osan City has been selected as the top-rated local government in the 2011 technical diagnostic facility management evaluation for public wastewater treatment facilities.

According to Osan City on the 4th, Osan No. 1 Wastewater Treatment Facility received high scores in five categories—maintenance and repair planning, research and development, facility safety inspection, documentation and equipment spare parts management, and environmental and resident-friendly facilities within the treatment plant—in the technical diagnostic facility management evaluation conducted by the Korea Environmental Institute on local governments nationwide.

Thus far, Osan City has managed Osan No. 1 Wastewater Treatment Facility (facility capacity 57,000㎥/day) by establishing strengthened in-house water quality targets beyond the legally mandated discharge water quality standards, discharging optimal quality water, and maintaining rigorous water quality management and efficient facility operations.

A city official stated, "Osan No. 1 Wastewater Treatment Facility is recognized as one of the highest-standard facilities in the nation," and added, "We will continue to contribute to water quality and environmental conservation through optimal operation of the wastewater treatment facility and improvement of discharge water quality."
