Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) will pilot "mobile worker-linked rest stops" through December 31 to enable mobile workers to conveniently rest near their work locations during business hours.

Mobile worker-linked rest stops provide rest spaces by utilizing existing life infrastructure such as convenience stores, which are frequently used by mobile workers, instead of constructing separate rest facilities. This approach increases accessibility for mobile workers while reducing the space and costs required for facility construction.

The city has designated 10 convenience stores across 4 districts—3 stores in Jangan-gu, 2 in Gwonseon-gu, 3 in Paldal-gu, and 2 in Yeongtong-gu—as linked rest stops for operation.

The facilities can be used by delivery, quick service, chauffeur, and courier workers, as well as workers such as study materials teachers and insurance planners who work while moving due to their job nature.

Mobile workers can utilize the interior and exterior rest spaces of designated stores and available convenience facilities to rest briefly or charge mobile phones and other devices. Suwon City will install designated signage at participating stores for easy recognition and will provide one fast charging station per store.

Suwon City identified candidate locations focusing on areas with high mobile worker usage, conducted field surveys, and selected participating stores through consultations with store owners.

Following a three-month pilot operation, the city will gather usage statistics and feedback from users and store owners, and plans to reflect the operational results in the 2027 mobile worker-linked rest stop operational plan.

A Suwon City official stated, "We are piloting mobile worker-linked rest stops to enable mobile workers to rest conveniently in their immediate living areas during work," adding "We will examine user feedback and operational achievements to work on improving rest rights and working conditions for mobile workers."
