Suwon Special Municipal Government Newly Designates KT Wiz Park and NC Suwon Terminal Point as 'Food Safety Zones'

Suwon Special Municipal Government (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) has newly designated KT Wiz Park and NC Suwon Terminal Point as 'Food Safety Zones.' This marks the first time that Suwon City has directly designated Food Safety Zones.

A Food Safety Zone is designated when two-thirds or more of food service establishments in a designated area have received a restaurant hygiene rating.

Suwon City has three Food Safety Zones designated by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety: Starfield Suwon, Lotte Shopping Mall Suwon Time Villas, and AK Plaza Suwon. With this new designation, the total number of Food Safety Zones in Suwon City has increased to five.

Suwon City conducted preliminary reviews of the food service establishment status, restaurant hygiene rating assignment rates, and designation restriction factors for the two areas before completing the designation through on-site verification of area boundaries, establishment details, and signage installation locations.

Food Safety Zone signage will be installed in the newly designated areas. The city plans to expand hygiene grade designations for restaurants in the zones and ensure that hygiene standards are continuously maintained.

A Suwon City official said, "This is significant as the first Food Safety Zone directly designated by Suwon City. We will create a dining environment where citizens can dine with confidence and enhance the self-directed hygiene management levels of restaurants."
