Suwon Special Decree City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) has successfully completed the '2026 Suwon-style Public Service Orientation Course (On-Boarding)' for newly appointed public officials.

From September 28 to October 2, the four-night, five-day Suwon-style public service orientation course held at YBM Training Center was attended by 210 newly appointed public officials who passed the 2026 Suwon City open recruitment and career-track civil service exams.

This year saw significantly increased participation compared to last year, creating strong enthusiasm for the education. More in-depth education was provided based on a systematic curriculum.

Rather than simple lecture-based instruction, the program operated through a 'Suwon-style educational module' that allowed participants to balance learning of public service values, job competencies, organizational culture, and communication skills. Suwon City, which has established a practical and systematic education system, was recognized as a '2026 Gyeonggi Province Education and Training Evaluation Excellent Case Study for Talent Development,' earning recognition as a pioneering model for public official education.

Newly appointed public officials actively participated in 'theatrical performances and role-playing for understanding organizational culture' and 'survival activities' for building teamwork.

Customized job training programs were also conducted extensively for immediate application in actual work settings. The practical, hands-on education programs—including ▲improving field response capabilities such as handling civil complaints and conflict mediation ▲communication and business etiquette for a productive public service career ▲conversations with senior public officials by job category ▲essential guides on personnel, education, and welfare systems—received positive responses.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon attended the 'Suwon Vision Talk' program held on September 30. The mayor congratulated the new public officials on their fresh start and discussed the attitudes they should maintain as public officials.

Mayor Lee stated, "Deeply understanding the values and responsibilities of public service, listening to citizens' voices, and contemplating together are the starting point for a public official," and encouraged them, "Become the leading figures to open Suwon's future with the confident passion and spirit of challenge befitting new public officials."

There was also a 'New Light Policy Idea Discussion and Presentation' session where newly appointed public officials shared the city administration vision and exchanged fresh perspectives. The new public officials deliberated on ways to advance city administration related to half-price living expenses, the Korea (K)-Global Culture and Tourism Hub, and fostering a global advanced scientific research city, and proposed ideas.

Kim Do-young, Policy Director of Suwon City, delivered a special lecture on the theme of 'Suwon's Future Story,' introducing Suwon's key policy directions.

On the final day of the training, all participants read the 'Public Officials' Charter,' which pledges transparent and fair responsibility, concluding the four-night, five-day journey together.
