Gyeonggi Province Superintendent An Min-seok: "Overcrowded Classrooms Will Be Solved Through Coordination Between Provincial Education Office and Local Governments"

Superintendent An Min-seok of Gyeonggi Province held successive "mobile superintendent town hall" meetings in northern Gyeonggi to discuss education issues.
At the meeting, Superintendent An stated, "Problems with overcrowded classrooms and insufficient special education classes are issues that must be resolved with students at the center," and added, "The education office and local governments will work closely together to develop practical solutions tailored to regional circumstances."
On the 8th, following sessions in Goyang in the morning and Paju in the afternoon, he held a "mobile superintendent town hall" in Gimpo and listened to local education issues and parental concerns.
Questions at the venue included ▲resolution of overcrowded classrooms ▲commute route safety ▲expansion of special education classes ▲long-distance commute issues ▲education for out-of-school youth, among others.
Gwon Seong-gyu, superintendent of Gimpo Education Support Office who attended the meeting, explained improvement measures for long-distance school assignment issues based on middle school assignment simulation results.

He also stated that regarding the resolution of overcrowded classrooms and expansion of special education classes, improvement measures will be sought with local governments after carefully examining school-specific circumstances.
Gimpo Mayor Lee Gi-hyung, who was present, explained education support policies being pursued by Gimpo City, including plans to expand school bus routes and support programs for out-of-school youth through the Youth Foundation, and expressed his intention to actively cooperate with the education office to resolve local education issues.
Superintendent An plans to visit Gunpo and Uiwang on the 13th to continue field communication with parents.
